2007 One-Act Season

Arena had two entries in this year's DramaFest. They were The Bear by Anton Chekhov, directed by Simon James and starring Jo Williams, Michael Lamont and Amy Welsh and Gary's Place by Dominica Malcolm and Ellen Jurik, directed by Jeremy Malcolm starring Kelly van Geest, Jeremy Malcolm, Dominica Malcolm and Arena newcomer Cameron Knight.

Both performances went off without too many hitches, but the awards surprised us all. The Bear walked away with 5 awards, the most of any performance for the weekend. The awards were:

  • Best Director - Simon James
  • Stage Managers Award - Francesca Philips & Mario Piccoli
  • Best Male Lead - Michael Lamont
  • Best Costumes - Jo Williams
  • Adjudicators Award for Catching the Vodka Glass while Dropping the Tray - Amy Welsh

Congrats to all, and let's hope next year is just as successful.
