Jane Austen's

NORTHANGER ABBEY

With permission of Dominie Drama

Adapted for stage by Tim Luscombe, Directed by Theo Messenger

********************************************************************

No one who had ever seen Catherine Morland in her infancy would have supposed her born to be a heroine.' But as the lights of Bath fade into the dark shadows of Northanger Abbey, will Catherine Morland be able to discover the dreadful secret of the Tilney's? Or will she first be diverted by the sinister Mr Thorpe, and the cunning wiles of the seductive Isobelle? Perhaps all is lost...or perhaps Catherine reads too many books.

Arena will be presenting Jane Austen's satire 'Northanger Abbey' at the Old Mill Theatre this October. Combining the thrill of 'Frankenstine',

the lust of 'Udolpho' and the charm of, well...Austen.

********************************************************************

When Catherine Morland is invited to Bath by the Allen's many diversions are expected. Things get even better when she meets the handsome and strange Mr Tilney. However, the exaggerated claims of her alleged wealth, and the stoking of her fertile imagination give rise to calamity--when she is invited to Northanger Abbey. The gossip ridden Tilney residence hides many a dark secret. Or does it?

Scandal, Intrique, Horror and Romance...This promises to be a fast and thrilling ride for all, Jane Austen fan or not.
